UCLA Extension

Fees & Financial Aid

Pathway is a part of UCLA Extension, and while Extension is an integral part of UCLA, we do not receive any direct or indirect state or university funding. Our program is supported entirely by student enrollment fees, contracts, sponsorships, and philanthropic efforts. Pathway is an  approved Comprehensive Transition Program (CTP) that allows Pathway students to qualify for Federal Financial Aid. In addition, we maintain a private scholarship fund.

Academic Fees

Fees are payable for the entire year and cover all educational aspects of Pathway. Fees for full-time residential students paid in full by August 1st are eligible for a 5% discount. Tuition fees not paid in full will be divided into quarterly payments.

Housing and meal plan fees are paid separately. Independent/Supported Living Services (I/SLS) are not provided by Pathway staff and are not included as part of the tuition. Please see our Housing page for more information on I/SLS coordination.

Housing Fees

To fully experience university life, nothing equals living near campus, where students can enjoy convenience and a sense of community. Pathway’s housing is situated at the heart of university life and is just a short walk from classrooms, libraries, and sports facilities. Housing is provided in a university leased, privately-owned building.

Students share a 2-bedroom apartment (4 occupants), furnished with basic necessities.  Monthly rent per student for the 2017-2018 academic year is $1,300. Prices are subject to change, effective with the beginning of new academic years.

Meal Plans

Students may choose to purchase quarterly meal plans through UCLA Dining Services. These plans vary by the number of meals selected per week (Monday through Friday, or Monday through Sunday). Unused meals do not carry over from week to week. Fees are paid quarterly, directly with the UCLA Housing Cashiers Office.

FAFSA

Pathway students are eligible for Federal Financial Aid via the Pell Grant. Applications can be accessed via the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) website at www.fafsa.ed.gov. The FAFSA application deadline for the 2017-2018 academic year is August 1, 2017.

Completion of the FAFSA Online Application does not constitute completion of the federal financial aid application process. Applications for financial aid will need to submit all required documents listed on the Federal Financial Aid Information sheet.

Pathway Scholarship

In addition to Federal financial aid, Pathway also has a needs-based scholarship that we administer directly. To determine eligibility for the Pathway Scholarship, applicants must submit a copy of their Student Aid Report from the FAFSA application, and a signed photocopy of your 2015 Federal Income Tax Return & W-2. Please click here to access a copy of the Pathway Scholarship application form. Priority consideration will be given for completed scholarship applications received by May 15, 2017. The final deadline for Pathway Scholarship applications is July 31, 2017.

Scholarships are awarded on an annual basis. Students who receive a scholarship during their first year in the program can expect to receive a scholarship during the second year of the program, contingent on submitting a new FAFSA that demonstrates continued financial need.
