FAQ: Parent Education and Training

Who would take this certificate?

UCLA Extension Parent Education and Training certificate is designed for individuals who are responsible for engaging parents at schools, after school centers, and other institutions. Our certificate prepares individuals to facilitate the implementation, evaluation, and marketing of modern parenting programs within schools, agencies and communities. The certificate may also be used by those seeking professional development in related fields

What kind of job can I get with this certificate?

This certificate is geared towards individuals who are administrators at schools and organizations that focus around the family and towards those who use to function as a parent or community liaison.

Do these courses transfer to other institutions?

While these courses are considered post-baccalaureate credit bearing courses, acceptance of these courses into graduate schools will be up to the accepting institution.

How many courses are there in the program?

Must I take the courses in any particular order?

All students must enroll in and complete the Introduction course and enroll in the certificate before they can enroll in any of the other courses. Students must complete the final course, EDUC 834.1 Parent Education and Training Portfolio last.

How many courses can I take per quarter?

Due to the academic rigor of the courses we recommend that students enroll in no more than two courses per quarter.

Must I take the courses for a letter grade?

Yes, in order to receive the certificate, students must complete each course with a grade of C or better.

Do we offer special discounts to cohorts?

Is this program online?

Yes. This certificate is completely online.

Do you offer job placement once I have completed the certificate?

No. Unfortunately, at this time we do not offer job placement for students who complete our program.
